In October 1997 the Law Commission started a new project on the subject of international trade. This aspect of the project produced a study paper on international trade conventions.

Government response
Most of the Commission’s recommendations were considered by subsequent reviews by relevant agencies. New Zealand is now a member of the Hague Conference on Private International Law, mitigating some of these issues.
