Extradition to New Zealand

Introduction

11.1This chapter addresses another important aspect of New Zealand’s extradition law: the extradition of persons to New Zealand at New Zealand’s request. The Extradition Act 1999 contains some detail on specific aspects of making a request and dealing with the surrendered person once he or she has been sent to New Zealand. This chapter examines a few technical issues with extradition to New Zealand that have been identified as being in need of reform.
