Government response
Recommendations from Electronic Commerce Part One: A Guide for the Legal and Business Community (NZLC R50, 1998) and Electronic Commerce Part Two: A Basic Legal Framework (NZLC R58, 1999) were reflected in the Electronic Transactions Act 2002.
Most of the Commission’s recommendations from Electronic Commerce Part Three: Remaining Issues (NZLC R68, 2000) were considered in subsequent reviews by other agencies. New Zealand is now a member of the Hague Conference on Private International Law, mitigating some of the issues.
There was no requirement for the Government to present a formal response to Commission reports before April 2009.
